Prostate Cancer Vitamins And Spurious Research

By Ben E. Settle

There is a lot of confusion, myths and maybe even deception going on about certain prostate cancer vitamins, and how effective they are.

Take for example, the “SELECT” study.

It was a big study done a few years ago that concluded vitamin E and selenium have no benefits for preventing prostate cancer. In fact, some of these researchers suggested these prostate cancer vitamins could make your problems worse!

Interesting, isn’t it?

Yes… but also total poppycock, in my opinion.

Here’s why:

If you read the study, you might start seeing some of the snags in it. For one thing, there were an awful lot of people connected to the pharmaceutical companies attached to it.

Now, I’m not Mr. Conspiracy Theory.

And I’m not crying “foul play” by any means.

But, I do find that… odd.

Plus, there was one hole in it so big you could drive a Mac truck through it. And that was, what KIND of vitamin E and selenium did they use, and how much?

I admit it was a long read.

So maybe they explained this and I missed it.

But not all supplements are created equal.

In fact, there was some research a few years back that found almost 40% of saw palmetto supplements (at the time) to be worthless, since they lacked the essential fatty acids that make it effective in fighting prostate problems.

How do we know these nutrients weren’t “watered down”?

Another thing:

Vitamins and minerals don’t work in a vacuum.

You don’t take vitamin E by itself.

Or selenium, either.

They are meant to work the way God created them — in the right balance, surrounded by other, complementary vitamins and minerals and nutrients as you find them in nature (i.e. in food, plants, etc).

As a respected doctor once told me:

“Man can’t duplicate in the lab what God creates in the field.”

Very true.

That’s why I like herbal supplements — that contain the perfect mix of nutrients, in the perfect order.

It’s far better than taking multi-vitamins.

Or, even worse, isolated vitamins.
