Cancer is a very broad term that includes more than 200 known illnesses with their own unique symptoms and treatments. The type of cancer you have will determine the treatment you undergo. Knowing as much about what causes it along with interesting facts about cancer gives you the best chances of beating it.
Cancer is a word used to describe a disease caused by uncontrollable growth of mutated and abnormal cells anywhere in the body. Normal, healthy cells receive messages that tell them when to reproduce and when to die off.
When this doesn’t happen, the extra abnormal cells band together and create a mass or cancerous tissue known as a malignant tumor. Once the tumor is large enough to diagnose, chances are some damage has already been done.
Interesting Facts About Cancer
When a cancerous growth cannot be detected, it is known as “The Silent Period.” A traditional x-ray can detect a cancer mass once it has reached 1 cm, but that same mass can already contain billions of cancer cells.
Patients have to be aware of other interesting facts about cancer and warning signs of the disease.
Knowing these may help increase your chances of surviving a cancer diagnosis.
- Cancer deaths are more than those caused by malaria, tuberculosis and AIDS combined.
- The leading types of cancer in men are stomach, prostate and lung cancers.
- The leading types in women are breast, colon and cervical cancer.
- One of the rare types of cancer in adult black males is Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells.
- Nearly 20,000 people die of cancer every day.
- People who have a high acid forming diet or lifestyle are at an increased risk for developing cancer.
- Families of children with leukemia are three times as likely to have used a professional exterminator before their children were age two.
- If you have a root canal or tooth extraction and the priodontal ligament is left behind, you are at an increased risk for developing cancer.
- Cancer cells are anaerobic and do not need oxygen to survive.
- The cells have a protective protein coating on them which is part of the reason why they are so hard to kill.
- There are more than 200 different anti-carcinogenic compounds in common citrus fruits – these help to prevent a host of diseases occurring.
- Eye cancer retinoblastoma is a rare eye disease that occurs in children generally before the age of five. It is often referred to as Rb. Left untreated, it is fatal.
- One of the early symptoms of kidney cancer is high blood pressure.
- The states with the highest incidence of cancer risks are the District of Columbia, Kentucky and Louisiana.
- The states with the lowest risk incidences are Utah, Hawaii and Idaho.
- Cruciferous vegetables have “indoles” in them, which can reduce the size of tumors and cancer cells.
- Smegma, the cheese-like substance that appears under the foreskin of male genitalia is a possible indicator of penile cancer.
- Red splotches or patches on the face that appear and then disappear may be one of the symptoms of cancer of the face.
- If pancreatic enzymes are low, the chances for developing the disease are significantly increased.
- Almost all cases of male breast cancer start around the nipple area
- Chemotherapy, one of the big three standard treatments for cancer, is a by-product of mustard gas.
- It only takes one serious sunburn for skin to begin developing cancerous lesions.
- Obesity is a related cause of prostate cancer, along with many other types of the disease.
Intravenous Vitamin C and Cancer Medication

Just before selecting a cancer therapy, we have to explain what cancer basically is. Cancers are primitive cells growing in a diminished oxygen environment. Treating cancer implies reversing the impact of this lack of oxygen. Oxidative stress is the root cause of all illness, and cancer is no exception to this rule. Cells are made to grow in an oxygen lessened environment are the subject of substantial oxidative stress.
The biochemistry is complex and there’s no need to have to reveal it here but the crucial aspect to decreasing oxidative stress would be to apply antioxidants. The most beneficial antioxidant that nature has freely supplied is vitamin C plus the greatest way of taking it really is intravenously.
There’s an excellent amount of research available proving the benefit of vitamin C and cancer. When taking vitamin C intravenously, you can take far more than you may for those who had been just taking it by mouth. You come against bowel tolerance when swallowing vitamin C, this a dramatic loosening of the bowels after you reach the threshold amount.
This bowel tolerance amount isn’t enough to cope with cancer. This can only be reached intravenously. These doses are pharmacological doses, not vitamin doses. You will need a minimum of 60mg vitamin C a day as a vitamin to prevent scurvy but a pharmacological amount is anything from 35g to 100g depending on body weight.
An antioxidant is needed to prevent the harm triggered by oxidative strain. Oxidative stress is really a chain reaction where parts of a cell rob from other areas of a cell damaging the cell itself. The damaged component of the cell does exactly the same to its neighbour and so on.
Radiation poisoning is an example of extreme oxidative stress. The radiation damages the cells to ensure that, although you happen to be nonetheless alive immediately after the radiation exposure, sufficient damage has been carried out to kill you some days later.
Vitamin C can safeguard you against oxidative stress, for instance radiation poisoning. Indeed the military use it for exactly that purpose. What occurs is the fact that when oxidative stress happens, right after say exposure to radiation, vitamin C blocks the damaging chain reaction. It gets even better.
Not only can vitamin C end the damage, it can in fact eliminate the cause of the harm in the first place. How this works is the glutathione detoxification pathway of the physical body. Glutathione is created within the liver and its function is always to connect to and wrap up any toxins within the body. Soon after obtaining and wrapping up an offending toxin, glutathione drops into the colon preparing to be excreted. When adequate vitamin C is present inside the blood stream, the vitamin regenerates glutathione to ensure that it can uncover yet another toxin to get rid of.
So not just is the harm repaired, the toxin causing the harm in the first place is eliminated by the body. The amount necessary for prostate cancer is approximately 75g per infusion with two infusions a week for so long as it takes. A very good mineral supplement is needed at the same time with a minimum of 200mcg selenium and 2000iu vitamin D
This Popular Anti-Cancer Drug Causes Cancer – 6 Ways To Prevent Cancer

There is a growing number of published in-depth studies indicating that the drug Tamoxifen causes cancer. For example, cancer has occurred in the uterine, liver and even the breast. If that is not enough, there are also risks like blood clots, stroke and eye damage linked to Tamoxifen.
Some studies point to the consequence of uterine cancer in women who took Tamoxifen to prevent cancer because they were considered the high-risk. Tamoxifen induced liver cancer in rats at low doses.
Even its manufacturer, pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, acknowledges that Tamoxifen is a carcinogen!
Tamoxifen is in the list of known carcinogens complied annually by the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences. You can download the “Report on Carcinogens” at its website. It is considered a human carcinogen based on sufficient evidence of carcinogenicity from studies in humans.
It comes either in a pill under the brand Nolvadex, or in a liquid branded as Soltamox. It is generally prescribed to both women and men with:
- Early-stage breast cancer after surgery (or chemotherapy and radiation) to reduce remission.
- Advanced-stage or metastatic hormone-receptor-related cancer.
- High-risk women to prevent breast cancer, and is usually taken for five years.
According to Dr. Sherrill Sellman author of Hormone Heresy: What Women MUST Know About Their Hormones, some studies reveal a six-fold increase in liver cancer among women taking Tamoxifen for more than two years. Though rare, cases of tamoxifen-induced acute hepatitis and liver failure have been reported.
In 1999, the journal Science carried a report by the Duke University Medical Center which found that after two to five years, Tamoxifen initiated the growth of breast cancer.
Tamoxifen binds to your estrogen receptors in the breast with the intention to prevent excess estrogen binding, hence stopping cancer from forming. However a bipolar behaviour emerges when Tamoxifen is in the uterine, heart, bones and blood vessels – it actually exhibits estrogenic properties!
What an irony for a drug developed to stop one cancer unwittingly causes other deadly cancers. However instead of removing this carcinogen, tamoxifen is still very much in the market, heavily promoted and praised for its breakthrough benefits. Its fatal side-effects are conveniently brushed aside or claimed to be treatable.
This does show how unwilling regulatory bodies are when it comes to removing a profitable money-spinner. Incidentally, the company has been sponsoring the October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month since the 1985.
Considering that breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers today, simple interventions could save countless numbers of lives.
6 Ways To Protect Against Cancer
- Vitamin D
Also known as a safer equivalent to Tamoxifen! Researchers in Israel took human breast cancer cells and treated them with a potent form of vitamin D. Within days, half the cancer cells shriveled up and died. Vitamin D, also known as the Sunshine vitamin exhibited the same effect as Tamoxifen. To ensure adequate vitamin D intake, get enough sunlight. Thirty minutes twice per week, between 10 am and 3 pm would be sufficient. If sun exposure is not possible, a safe tanning bed would be another alternative or even a supplement. For oral supplements, get your blood levels checked first.
- Animal-Based Omega-3 Fats
Omega-3 fats EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexanoic acid) are well-known by now that they are important to our diet. A deficiency in omega-3 is a common underlying factor for cancer, and for that matter many health conditions (think heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, etc) as well. Optimizing your animal-based omega-3 fat intake can be obtained from quality, free-from-toxins fish oil.
- Control Insulin Levels
Controlling insulin levels a strategic move you can make to lower cancer risks. A diet that has been taken over by unhealthy processed foods and refined sugars trigger the production of more insulin raising its amount to abnormal levels that will eventually cause harm and damage. Let’s not forget that cancer thrives on sugar.
- Exercise
Exercise drives the insulin levels down. This in turn creates a low sugar environment that discourages the growth and spread of cancer cells.
- Eat Your Greens
Eat as many raw vegetables as you can. They should be in a wide variety, fresh and ideally organic, though non-organic vegetables are still better than wilted organic ones. Try juicing too, which helps you take in all the nutrients.
- Sleep
Getting enough restful sleep helps the body defend against cancer by keeping hormones like melatonin in balance. During sleep the brain makes melatonin, an antioxidant that helps to suppress free radicals in the body and slows the production of estrogen, which can activate cancer
